This picture shows the monastery, with the buddhas nested up every available surface, very much like bees in a hive - but also like the nine hundred grandmothers in R. A. Lafferty's story:
"Living dolls! They were here in rows on the shelves, and sitting in small chairs in their niches. Doll-sized indeed, and several hundres of them."
