durham_rambler, who has come upstairs to watch from the attic window. I have closed the skylight, and it is stifling up here. And now there is a fusillade of hail...The threatened thunderstorm seems to have arrived right on top of us: the thunder is thunderous, and the lightning flashes "within a mile," says |
July, and the days are getting shorter. Summer is over.
No! It will return! It's the first of July! We haven't had he storm here yet but we have had a short power cut and it is very humid.
Did the storm reach you later? We met a second one, as durham_rambler
It's true that July has barely started, and that I alway feel a bit of an anti-climax after midsummer - and also that I often prefer fine autumn weather to high summer, so take no notice of me!
That said it's dazzingly sunny and 35c down here in the deep sarf!
35°C is not my idea of fun - as you know, I'm a northerner at heart!
One side of my family hails from Sunderland, so yeah! :o)
Hot winds down here. I envy you your hail.
It was quite vicious hail - but hot winds are no fun, either...
Ah, England, where you can always start a lively conversation by talking about the weather!
Another hailstorm, with thunder and lightning, as we drove back from Newcastle to Durham this evening. Fortunately it had stopped by the time we got home.
