I don't mind frogs - except when they get into the piano. That pisses me off.

Our friend M., whom we have not seen in altogether too long, dropped in this morning and brought us up to speed on her news. She now has her daughter's cats living with her, as daughter has moved in with a man who doesn't like cats. Obviously, she feels this is a mistake, but she's happy to have the cats, and the cats are happy to be there: they can go outside, and bring in frogs...

Yes - just not a good state of affairs from any point of view!

When I was a small child, my father's family had a massive reunion in South Carolina. It was the only time I met some of the relatives on that side, my paternal grandmother included. My strongest memory is of playing outside after dark with two cousins who were a year or so older than I was; we were catching frogs. There were lots of them. I have no idea what kind. They cheeped and hopped and we dropped them into a bucket. Proudly, we brought our quarry inside to show off to our respective families and just as enthusiastically, the bucketful of frogs staged a jailbreak. I remember being very confused as to why the adults were not as delighted as we were.

Adults, eh? Who knows what they're thinking!
